iCareers

The iSchool has a dedicated team supporting career services and employer relations for the school. We have two goals:

  • Supporting all of our students across all of our programs in their career development by providing individual counseling, hosting employer events, and conducting regular workshops on strategic job searching, resume and cover letter writing, networking, employer research, interviewing, and understanding and negotiating job offers.
  • Connecting employers with the iSchool in various ways including recruitment for interns and full time employees, collaboration in curriculum development, guest lecturing regarding career development or industry hot topics, and research.

Students in the iSchool’s Women in Information Technology organization visited the General Electric plant in Schenectady, N.Y. GE is one of the iSchool’s top employers, and the visiting students had the opportunity to network with a number of iSchool alumni currently employed by the plant.

Dozens of alumni returned to campus to recruit iSchool students at the Fall Career Fair in the Carrier Dome. Employers consistently comment on the marketability of iSchool students and heavily recruit them at various on-campus events.
